Curling Stones. A talk by Prof. Derek Leung

Zoom only

15 December 2026

Scotland is the birthplace of both geology and curling. Naturally, the journey to Scotland
is considered a pilgrimage for many geologists and curlers around the world. In 2020, Derek had
the opportunity to complete a pilgrimage of granitic proportions, researching curling stones as part
of a Masters by Research at the University of Edinburgh. In this presentation, Derek reflects on his
chapter abroad in Scotland, from geology and curling, to travel and culture."
