Abstract: Ancient volcanic eruptions in which lava erupted from long cracks in the ground, known
as fissures, are rarely preserved, but recent discoveries have been made on the Isle of Mull. This
virtual field trip uses drone imagery and field observations to explore spectacular volcanic rocks,
including ash deposits, volcanic bombs, lava flows, lava tubes and some bonus tree fossils,
revealing part of a 60-million-year-old dynamic fissure eruption system.
